green DnA (Development n Architecture) offers a range of environmental, development and humanitarian related research and consultancy services.

Our ethos is to provide support that will allow sustainable development of the people, vulnerable and marginalised communities, and natural environments through better understanding of their lives and in symbiotic relationship with their sensitive ecosystems.

At green DnA, we believe innovation is key for collective and mutually benefitting progress. To enforce an innovative process in our projects, we deem it necessary to work in harmony with diverse stakeholders and communities, and create a working environment of mutual respect and understanding. Robust and transparent communication strategy, empathic listening skills, and engagement with local communities is key to successful delivery of our projects.

Our proactive and innovative approach allows us to appreciate the expectations of our clients, identify crucial needs of communities, stakeholders and their natural environments, and provide practical and appropriate solutions that are of utmost benefit to the people. We believe in developing strong relationships with people from various backgrounds, cultures and contexts.

 

We regularly keep up to date with current global developments and growing discourse on environmental, humanitarian and development issues through networking, publishing, training and CPDs. Additionally, we understand the need to have a good global and regional databases of literature and case studies on climate change, sustainable architecture and development, gender, conflict and other development related issues. We also believe in being an ethical social media user.

Environmental Consultancy

Aparna Maladkar is the Principal Consultant at green DnA. Having worked in the U.K. (Buro Happold, URS, Scott Wilson, Atelier Ten) and India (Ashok B. Lall Architects, Revathi Kamath Design Studio) for the last 15 years, she has a thorough understanding of architecture, construction industry and sustainable technologies.

Aparna has a Bachelors Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) from India and a Masters in Energy & Environment (MA EE) from the Architectural Association, London. She also holds a Practitioner Membership (PIEMA) with Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA). Her areas of expertise include architecture, planning, sustainability advice and assessment for new, refurbished, historic and vernacular buildings.

Research Consultancy

Aparna also has a Masters in Development and Emergency Planning (MA DEP) with sub-specialisation in Disasters, Risks, Shelter and Development from Oxford Brookes University. With her experience of working as a Research Consultant with NGOs and academic institutions, as a Development Manager (Pragya UK) and as a Research Assistant (Oxford Brookes University) in the last 5 years, the amalgamation between architecture, environmental training and humanitarianism has resulted in a strong interest in research related to humanitarian issues, especially climate change and environmental concerns. Being an amateur photographer, Aparna has also developed a keen interest in creating photo essays for maximum visual impact and awareness.

Creative Consultancy

Aparna is an avid painter and illustrator, and especially interested in using these skills to disseminate research data, and using it as a medium to create awareness around humanitarian and environmental issues. Her humanitarian and environmental themed paintings are created from her day-to-day influences and research experiences. We welcome collaborations for illustrative analysis and data visualisation of research projects for storytelling, communication and dissemination.
